Flat Feet

Flat feet, also known as fallen arches or pes planus, refer to a condition of the foot characterized by an excessively flattened arch of the foot.

Flat feet can have a number of causes, including genetic predisposition, general weakness in the muscles and connective tissues along the arch, muscle fatigue or pain due to active lifestyle choices such as running, and even structural defects since infancy. Flat feet can cause all sorts of issues both with our gait while walking and creating issues like inflammation due to increased stress on other parts of the body.

Flat feet can be managed through physical therapy, orthopedic modification such as arch supports, custom braces, and restoring better posture habits. It’s important to take steps towards addressing flat feet before more serious strains and injuries set in over time.
